I am surprised somewhat by the results of this poll. First, I had considered putting Art of Fiction and of Nonfiction together as one option. I am glad I didn't. I voted Nonfiction myself. I did not expect these two to get many votes, but I see they have been above 50% between them. I expected Early Ayn Rand to do quite well. Although I think her Letters are very interesting, I didn't expect them to do so well. I didn't expect Answers, Column or Marginalia to get any votes at all. I thought Journals would come in sec ond, but that is not the case either.

Given the sluggish response I wonder if many people haven't read these works. I would rate Journals, Letters, Early Ayn Rand and the writing books as equal to her other works in interest, and the writing books are easily as good as anything except perhaps ItOE.

I confess I'm a lightweight here. I only have one of those books (Early AR), and have not yet really read it. I tend to be very lazy about non-fiction.

mea culpa

I would argue that her Journals are much more useful than the poll suggests. Otherwise it is a pretty fair assessment. And the high ranking works here are better than New Left, Voice of Reason or Philosophy Who Needs It

I am the one who marked for the Journals, as from her newsletters, et al, have most of the columns and articles used in the posthumous publishings, and her journals gave more to the understanding of her developments on the themes and such used in these other works...

and am surprised no one else thought them worthy of marking...

Had I not voted for Art of Non-Fiction (or Fiction) I would have voted for her journals. There are probably not that many here who have read the Journals.
