I haven't thought about this in years, but I never had the appreciation for artsy stuff like I did after I discovered Objectivism.  It was like someone opening the barn door.  I started looking at everything differently, not just art.

I have always had a critical eye, and ear for art. Always objective, of course.

I grew up pushed toward "art appreciation": trips to the museums, symphony memberships, piano lessons, reading (of course) novels and short stories more than poetry, but that, too.  Not until Ayn Rand did I "get" it.  Once I had a framework for conceptualization, it all fell into place for me.

The features and columns about "Bootleg Romanticism" and the "cultural depths at their heights" provided a standard for judgment.  The Romantic Manifesto explained much more, of course.

I graduated with a degree in Visual Arts. Since I did digital art and photography, most of my art education was on modern art.
