Death penalty for a political crime seems really, really bad to me.  I'm curious to see just how much of a backlash this will get.  Probably none.  I wish we could look towards Portugal as a model rather than the Philippines.

Murdering innocent people for no real reason -- for merely selling a badly-wanted product which someone else freely and happily elects to purchase -- is stunningly bad political policy and profoundly evil morally. It will be interesting to see if Donald Trump -- this pragmatic man of no political philosophy, who rules without political principles to guide him -- will be able to improve and enlighten himself on this over the next few days, weeks, and months. Trump evidently thinks about, and tries to solve, social and political problems based on simple reason and common sense. It will be fascinating to watch no-nonsense, direct-to-the-point, no-political-agenda Donald Trump -- along with his handful of Objectivist and libertarian advisors -- try to correct his horrific error here.

This might be one of Trump's "bombastic offers", meaning he wants tougher penalities for drug dealers so he starts with the bombastic offer to "begin the negotation".  I don't pay much attention to Trump anymore, it's hard to tell when he says what he means, means what he says, believes what he says, or says what he believes.

As far as actually calling for the death penalty for drug dealers, it's pretty ridiculous.  There isn't a direct act of force by the drug dealers to the people that are dying from taking drugs.  So there's no death penalty.

Korben Dallas -- Good point. But the fact that President Trump calls for the death penalty for nothing shows how profoundly ignorant he is in certain political areas. Presumably he favors cruel penalities for prostitution and gambling too. Trump evidently has no clue "victimless crimes" aren't really crimes.
