Ha! Glad to see this one resurface. I reprise it every once in a while as succeeding groups of newbies seem to require it. :-) This article, of course, is proof positive that SOLOists are whim-worshipping subjectivist Branden-corrupted hedonists.

The posts make interesting reading. Poor old Regi could never come to grips with the idea that some aspects of our make-up are independent of our will, notwithstanding that that is the reality. The scope of volition, according to such a view, is limitless. That ain't Objectivism. It's not even intelligent.

For those who are dating, some good advice:

I would paraphrase her own paraphrasing of the bewildered question of philosophers through the centuries, "Where is the man-ness in man?" by asking her, "Where in your view of romantic love is the animality in man?"
