9. You can't have no Blues in an office or a shopping mall. The lighting is wrong.

Perfect timing!  The whole thing was good but that line had me cracking up.

Paul,

LOLOLOL...

I just sent this to the No. 1 American bluesman in Brazil - JJ Jackson (the Brazilian one - not MTV).

I will keep you posted on his reaction.

When I received this it said,

"Got a good woman - with the meanest face in town. Got teeth like Margaret Thatcher- and she weigh 500 pound."

I should have changed it to thighs like Hillary Clinton.

What's a shotgun shack?

Since none of our other Southerners have answered, I'll take this one :-)

Tenya, a shotgun shack is a small house that is built in such a way that if you stand at the front door you could fire a shotgun into the house and the bullet would go through the back door.  I.E., it's long instead of wide.  It's common in poorer areas, where houses are crowded together, and since they're usually run-down, it's called a 'shack.'

I don't think it applies to shotgun shacks but another housing style I've heard of in poorer areas is one where there's no hallway.  To get from the front of the house to the back you have to go from room to room through adjoining doors.  Imagine being a teenager and having your parents have to walk through your room to get to another part of the house.  Awful.

Jason, they call that other type a railroad apartment, I guess because the rooms are lined up like boxcars.

And even if it were the Blues otherwise, if it is French it is NOT the Blues. It it is French it is Existentialism.

I'd heard 'railroad apartment' in a They Might Be Giants song and thought it was just one of their goofy nonsense phrases. Now I know what it is. Thanks, Angela.
